A Great way to meet lots of muslims and learn about Islam. The controversy surrounding the Da Vinci Code was of course because of Christians. Dan Brown wrote a thriller style novel which he claimed was based on historical facts about a code left behind by the Renaissance genius. The fact that the author posited such claims as church politics surrounding the compilation of the Bible resulting in dubious authenticity and the unity of Christ before the church’s indoctrination of the Trinity were the central objections. We of course, alread knew that. Christians basically acted in one of 3 ways:
1. some protested the book/film and tried to prevent screenings
Now, the first category of Christians is just plain ironic. Most of them, of course, believe in “free” speech and would find other religious groups’ attempts at censorship to be “barbaric”. What happened to the concept of people being really good and able to handle the truth and making up their own minds? Apparently in a few exceptional issues, some guidance is required. The second category of Christians is actually funny. Most of the counter-"evidence" they produce in refuting Brown’s claims are simply rhetoric. I guess they’re trying to put things in “laymen’s” terms so that it is easy to steer the sheep back into the herd, but how is this any different than an author writing a wildly popular novel? Either way, it’s “here’s what happened” - “no, HERE’S what happened”. Who can tell the difference? I guess you’re supposed to take someone’s word here although they are claiming to have history on their side. No proof is required, just assertiveness. But most Christians, like good American citizens, didn’t really care. After all, religion is a private matter and of no major importance in one’s life. It’s beautiful cultural tradition and all, but not worth interrupting the quiet, “peaceful” (as in “leave me alone") hum of everyday life. There is, however, a fourth category of Christians: those who are discovering what Islam has been saying about Jesus (peace be upon him) from the beginning- that he was a prophet and messenger of God, miraculously born from a pious virgin, who served God and was granted miracles, and will return before the Day of Judgment. well, there’s a debate about mary magdalene - if she was a prostitute or a disciple - either way she was mentioned in the 4 gospels but yah, we don’t believe ‘isa ‘alaihis salaam had any “affairs” we don’t believe everything in the da vinci code, sheesh after all it was written by a non-muslim based on church history, etc. and wasn’t based on revelation from Allah Posted by on 07/03 at 01:04 PM
Assalamu Alaikum, did anyone here read the book? Posted by on 07/03 at 10:21 PM

i think the Da Vinci Code has to do with a research by a man created by GOD. So as for me i do not see any reason why anyman may want to castigate the researcher, afterall, the BIBLE AND KORAN aptly says that only GOD gives knowledge. Moreover who claims to be there when Jesus Christ existed, the BIBLE, KORAN and all that are all based on Figment Of Imagination. So i think its time we have to let the researcher of THE DA VINCI CODE enjoy his GOD given knowledge. Anybody who is against the CODE should come out now publicly and mention the true fact that disputes the DA VINCI CODE. Posted by on 08/07 at 04:47 PM
